New favorite piece in my wardrobe! I couldn't tell you if harem-type pants are actually any kind of fashionable - but they're certainly comfortable, especially this cotton version on a hot summer day. In fact, I'm wearing mine as I write this.
And the other great thing about this project? I created them out of an old broomstick skirt, easy to find at a Goodwill or Ragstock, plus a few pieces of elastic, bringing the whole thing in at under $10 a pair. I like them so much I made a second pair for my sister! The secret was to turn the skirt upside down before laying out the legs - using the original hem at the new waistline, and the original waistline as the new ankle hem. That way, the tiers of the skirt naturally taper towards the calf and ankle.
