It's time for another new beginning! I started a new project this week that I'm been planning for quite some time. My grandmothers taught me to sew when I was very young, and both of them have quilted for much of their lives. For the last couple of years, I've been designing my own variation of an Amish sunlight and shadow pattern. I adore the colors of sunrises and sunsets, which is where my inspiration started for this design. I also love the simplicity and bold colors of Amish quilts, as well as the long tradition of excellence and humility for which Amish quilters are known. I combined these elements in my own take on the pattern, and came up with this. Now that I've found the cotton, all that's left is for me to start sewing. :) This will probably one of the longest projects that I've ever worked on, because I'm planning on hand quilting it once it's pieced. Nothing like a challenge, right? Here's to new beginnings!
